The solution Negotiate Outcomes offers is affordable subscriptions that provide personalized support, including Zoom sessions and workshops, to help parents edit and modify their applications. Additionally, they provide mediation support and review letters while limiting their clients’ personal interactions with the CSA. 

Negotiated Outcomes website offers both knowledge memberships and full representative services to empower parents and improve their ability to deal with the Child Support system.

The proposed solution involved utilising WordPress to provide a content editing space to manage and organise written content for the website.

The Problem

Negotiated Outcomes approached Digital8 with the challenge of providing a unique and engaging online user experience for its members. They had a clear vision of what they wanted to achieve but lacked the technical expertise to bring their ideas to life. Additionally, they had limited resources and a tight budget, making it difficult to execute their plans.

Negotiated Outcomes had a vision to assist parents in navigating the Child Support system, a complex system that is difficult for parents to understand and follow. 

Andrew, the founder of Negotiated Outcomes, identified that a lack of knowledge and experience could result in uninformed decisions and costly mistakes. The goal of Negotiated Outcomes is to provide parents with the knowledge and tools to make informed choices and successfully navigate the system. 

 

Understanding the Business Objectives

Digital8’s Project Manager, Designers and Developers conducted an in-depth analysis of Negotiated Outcomes goals, objectives, and requirements. We identified the key features that were necessary to deliver a high-quality, novel user experience while keeping costs low. The proposed solution was a 3-phase development roadmap to get from concept to ideal state, with the first phase focused on delivering an MVP (minimum viable product) that could generate a return on investment to fund further R&D

Our Process

1. Scope

Digital8 held various workshops with months of in-depth studies of the various user groups and meticulously planned the process of designing and developing the website and LMS. A project scope document was prepared with ideas and wireframes for the project before the design and development began.

Once the scope of the project was approved by Negotiated Outcomes, the project was broken down into phases (known as sprints) to assist the client with budget planning, forecasting and investment. These sprints helped the Digital8 team maintain open communication with the client, offering clear deliverables and timelines with reports and outcomes shared at the end of each sprint

2. Design

During the design phase, Digital8’s expert UI/UX team designed high fidelity mockups of the website for the Negotiated Outcomes team to review. These mockups offered clarity to the designers and the client about how the end product would eventually look and function. We then created an initial prototype of the website designs for the client to view in a more interactive environment.

3. Development

After the final scope and designs were approved, Digital8 built Negotiated Outcomes using modern technologies and frameworks with WordPress. 

We proposed utilising WordPress to provide a content editing space to manage and organise written content for the website. 

The membership experience & management was largely handled by Memberful. This off-the-shelf membership product has a pre-built plugin with WordPress and allows users to sign up to access content that is locked behind membership access tiers. 

Discord provided Chatroom functionality allowing signed-up members to post into predefined channels set up by admins and moderators. Likewise, Discourse provided a community forum users can post questions and comments on a managed range of topics. This is a more traditional forum where users and admins can discuss various topics asynchronously.

To facilitate the development process, Digital8 set up the staging server so that even in a beta version, it was required to achieve high-performance levels of security, availability and response times. 

The development process met a high standard of integrations with Memberful, Discourse and Discord. The website was tested by Negotiated Outcomes and its users throughout the development cycle.

 

4. Deployment

Developers were in regular contact with Negotiated Outcomes via Digital8 Head of Production to ensure the overall success of the development process. Open communication is key during any complex web development project and Digital8 facilitated a smooth development workflow that was highly collaborative with the client.

The Challenges

While the Digital8 team is used to handling deadline changes and timeline interruptions, the organisational changes on the  team proved to be the most challenging aspect of this project
