2020 Community Impact Fund Recipient Announcement

We are very excited to finally be able to announce this year’s recipients of the Digital8 Community Impact Fund!
While we faced some challenges and delays due to COVID-19, we pushed on with our commitment and thanks to our spectacular judging panel – we have a very worthy group of organisations who we are excited to be working with over the next 12 months.

Here is the full list of 2020 Digital8 Community Impact Fund recipients.

1. Pushing Barriers

Pushing Barriers is a Brisbane based not-for-profit organisation that facilitates opportunities for children of refugee and asylum seeker background to participate in sporting activities.

2. The Helping Hub

The Helping Hub is a marketplace for people to be able to gift each other and themselves both products and services to help when they’re going through a challenging time. Products and services that are useful, meaningful, and purposeful. The Helping Hub is not just a two way transaction but a community.

3. Sapling Offsets

Sapling App allows everyday drivers to plant trees to offset the emissions produced by driving, and have a real impact on climate change.

4. Aboriginal Art Co

Aboriginal Art Co is a not-for-profit organisation aimed at eliminating fake art and providing a permanent location for local consumers and visiting tourists to purchase authentic and ethically-sourced Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island art and products.

5. Freddy Bear Foundation

FreddyMatch helps match charities and volunteers based on their unique interests, skill sets and availability using the “FreddyMatch” algorithm. Only 14% of volunteering opportunities are currently filled in Australia.

6. Health Hack

HealthHack is a free event that brings researchers, students and healthcare professionals together with other scientists, software developers, educators, engineers and designers to create innovative solutions to interesting & important problems in healthcare and medical research.

7. Teresa Mobile Health Services

The main goal of Teresa Mobile Health Service is to raise the rural standards of living in the identified project, mainly through the introduction of better Primary Healthcare. It is an on-site mobile service that enables even the “unreachable places to be reached”.

8. Indigenous Energy Australia

Indigenous Energy Australia is an Indigenous, profit-for-purpose organisation that aims to combat climate change and improve Australian livelihoods. It brings best practice engagement, and emerging sustainable tech to remote, regional, vulnerable, and Indigenous communities.

9. Flexi Flow

Flexi Flow does learning wellbeing for innovative and creative communities. It fuses leading knowledge across mindfulness, neuroscience, and joy-based learning into practical skills and tools for kids, educators, and parents.

10. Empathy First

Empathy First is a social enterprise that uses Virtual Reality simulations of mental illness coupled with emotionally engaging mental health literacy and communication workshops to enhance corporate empathy and communication skills.
